Frequently asked questions

How does compounding work in trading?

When you reinvest profits, each month’s gain is calculated on a bigger balance than the last. 5% a month on $1,000 is $50 the first month, but after a year of reinvesting the same 5% is earned on roughly $1,700 — so growth accelerates over time.

What is a realistic monthly return?

Professional traders are often happy with 3–8% a month net of losses. Anyone promising 30–50% a month consistently is either taking enormous risk or not telling the truth. Plug in a conservative number and let time do the work.

Why does the calculator ask for return after losses?

Because losses are part of every real strategy. Entering only your winning-trade gain produces a fantasy figure. A net monthly return already has the losing trades subtracted, so the projection is honest.
